World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning contest that saw the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete US average reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an 8% increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
